Getting There
The Birdcage on Moreton is situated in the township of Cowan Cowan approximately ten minutes drive from Tangalooma resort where the Catamaran from Brisbane berths. Cowan Cowan is a small settlement on the Moreton Bay (western) side of the island and consists of about sixty properties with less than twenty permanent residents. No vehicles are allowed to traverse the beach at Cowan Cowan except for small boat launching. Through traffic bypasses the settlement and thus the beach is very private.
The house is situated on a large level block with adequate parking for about six vehicles, boats etc. Access to the house is via the Cowan Cowan bypass road turning into the settlement then left along William Leslie Street.
Access to the island is by barge, Catamaran, resort boat, plane or private boat. The catamaran trip takes about an hour from Brisbane.
Catamaran - The Micat (pictured) (07) 3909 3333 departs daily from Whyte Island near Lytton for The Wrecks on the western coast, near Cowan Cowan and Tangalooma.
Tangalooma Resort 1300 652 250 operates helicopter flights on demand and regular daily high speed catamaran services from Holt St wharf for guest and day visitors.
Private planes can fly into Cowan Cowan airfield by previous arrangement.
